Gear Review: Condor Outdoor Cobra Gun Belt

Condor Cobra BeltI have quite a few belts, who doesn’t. But I only have one or two I wear on the range, and the Condor Cobra Tactical Belt is one of them. It’s stiff, sturdy, holds up, and fits through most belt loops, or you can wear externally like a battle belt.

The Cobra Gun Belt features a sturdy plastic lining, allowing it to hold up to heavy loadouts with AR15 mags, or a ton of pistol mags. I’ve run both, and the belt hasn’t let me down yet. It is made in the USA, which is ever more rare these days, and has heavy duty webbing all around, velcro to adjust it to your size, and a crazy heavy duty buckle.

In fact, that is my only issue – sometimes this thing is too secure and you need to know the trick to getting it on and off quick. This is a good problem to have though, you don’t need your sidearm and magazines coming off unless you really want them to.

Rifle Ammo in Stock

The specs are pretty straight forward. It 1.75 inches wide with a badass AustriAlpn 1″ Cobra Buckle, with double layer webbing. It easily can ahndle a belt or paddle system, and I’ve run a Fobus rig on here without a problem. It also has exterior 1″ MOLLE webbing if you want to hang more pouches, like mags or a med kit. You also can adjust it roughly 4″ per size increment, so if you buy one and tack on some holiday weight – no worries!… Just kidding, get your ass in shape, soldier.

It comes in several colors, including black, tan and multicam.

PROS:

What we like. Solid belt with good stiffness and a rugged belt buckle.

CONS:

What we don’t like. Not many. The buckle takes a trick to undo, but that’s by no means a dealbreaker.

Update May 2017:

This belt is holding up great, and I’ve used it in several matches. It holds up several pounds of ammo, and stays in place when running from stage to stage. Moreove, the buckle itself has broken in and is easy to operate. The Kydex insert gives it a great stoutness that works well when you have 6 AR mags and several pistol mags on your belt loop.
