Part of a good EDC, next to a good knife and pistol you are competent with, is a good holster to carry said pistol. Now, I’ve been through my fair share to find the right one that didn’t print, was comfortable, and easy to access. I like the Crossbreed Freedom Carry for my G26, and have a couple I go to for my G19.
However, I came across QVO tactical – which stands for “Quick. Violent. Over” and really dug their appendix rig. I prefer to carry appendix when I can for alot of reasons. First, is that weapon retention is easy. Nobody can really do the “bump and dump,” taking your gun away from you, since the rig is on the front, right above the family jewels. Also, it’s less distance to travel when you draw, and you don’t have to get say, a jacket out of the way, then a shirt, then maybe an undershirt – if you carry 4 O’clock strong side in the winter or something.
The Wingman does away with that.
This ingenious design has double J hooks that go on either side of the belt buckle (or just the belt if you rock a GPM kit like I do), as well as a very cool notch to put opposing pressure on your pants, allowing the grip of the weapon to not print as bad. They also gave it a nice curve so it hugs the body. What’s more, they put a spot to carry an extra mag, cutting down on the kit you have to carry, and make it easily accessible for tactical and emergency reloads.
Moreover, this bad boy comes in a variety of colors for pretty much ever pistol under the sun, and you can even get it with a sweat guard. From FDE (pictured) to hot pink, QVO has a plethora of options. And this is just one of their offerings. I scooped up an OWB for my Glock 21, so expect a review on that. You can see a full workup in the video review.
The guy that runs it is former LEO, now does private security, as well as making these kick-ass holsters. Hell of a guy, knows his stuff, and loves what he does.
Pros, what we like: Concealable, comfortable, allows you to carry an extra mag, and also comes in a variety of colors. QVO also has varied offerings for whether or not you use a light, laser, etc. Very much like the security and draw stroke when carrying this holster. A++
Cons, what we don’t like: Gun not included, womp womp (that’s a joke).
