The Calm Before the Storm

calm before the stormAbout once a month we get asked “How did you deal with the stress and dread leading up to and before Hell Week?”

The easy answer is that you try to forget about it.

The real answer is that you have to be present in the moment and not think ahead to something that you fear in the future.

There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve: the fear of failure.”
― Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist

My first time through Hell Week I absolutely feared sunday night and getting started.

My second time through I learned to calm down and not worry about something I cannot control.

Find out What a Navy SEAL has to say about staying calm under Pressure

Hell Week is meant to weed out the weak. Break you down and find the weak individuals.

Thinking ahead to this will only make you fear it more.

You have to relax and believe in yourself and know that when the time comes you will perform.

If you focus ahead to Hell Week (or Kokoro or whatever event) – you will not be able to get your present task done.

You must remain focused on the present and train to be ready for the events ahead.
