Check out the reviews, videos and tips for the Salewa hike trainer vs Danner mountain 600 boots and you decide which ones are good enough for you feet on your next long hike.
The Salewa Hike Trainer GTX Hiking Shoe has a nubuck synthetic fabric upper and GoreTex to help it breath.
The sole is a sticky Vibram rubber which is great when scrambling rocks or more challenging hiking.
These boots are 5 inches tall vs the Danners are 4.5 inches tall.
They have a leather outer and are slightly more in price ($135) than the Danner.
What we like. The lacing system is well thought out and stands up well to abuse. You see this in higher end climbing shoes.
What we don’t like. They run a little on the narrow side but that is to be expected in European shoes. If you wear them for a while they will expand some and conform to your feet.
The Danner Men’s Mountain 600 Hiking shoe fit great and have a good price point at a little under $130.
You need to realize that for that price and the construction of the boot that this is a lightweight hiking boot at a good price.
These are not meant for heavy duty hiking and expeditions. Run a little big for the size so make sure you know that. I personally like my boots a little big as I wear thicker wool blend socks like the Vermont Darn Tough socks on longer hikes. Also your feet swell on long hikes especially if the weather is warmer so it is ok to have a slightly larger boot.
