skratch labs vs osmo nutritionWe are currently testing Skratch Labs hydration mix vs Osmo nutrition during long mountain bike rides in the north Florida heat to see how they work to keep us fueled.

We purchased both items at the Higher Ground bike shop in Tallahassee, Florida at $2 per 0.70 ounces.

skratch labs vs osmo nutrition taste testAt the start we did a kitchen counter test and put both drinks in side by side cups to test them out.

Later, we put both samples into the water bottles on the bike and hand shook them to mix them up. Both state to put the mix into 16 ounces of water for best use. If I am on a really long ride I may stretch that out a little as I want the product to go further. That is just my personal preference.

Taste test: Both taste good with only minor differences in that they both had a light orange flavor.

I found that I did not need the whole packet on longer rides (4 plus hours). What I would do is only use half the packet and that still gave me enough electrolytes to not cramp. This is during 90 plus degree heat in July in the north Georgia mountains on the Trans North Georgia ride (TNGA). I was completely covered in sweat so this was during extreme conditions.

Note: We plan to test the product for 30 days plus in Florida heat on rides longer than one hour. Check back on this page for more updates and feedback.

Question: What about testing Osmo nutrition vs Nuun? Or Osmo vs Hammer? We are working on testing both of those and will post our results with a link.

Note: I will be taking 2 tubes of Nuun Energy: Hydrating Electrolyte Tablets with me for the August TNGA 2016 ride.

The tablets are really easy for me to work with and I can break them in half during a ride to add to my water bottle.
