As you saw from my post about the TimTam Power Massager, I was a bit skeptical at first. But then I tried it, and wow, was I blown away. It broke up knots I had been trying to get for months. Literally months – that’s not hyperbole. Ones that were deep in between my scaps from too many pullups, or in my calves from long rucks and runs. That thing blew them out at 2000 rpm, and I felt like a million bucks after.
But I’ve used rollers before. In fact, I use a piece of 4″ PVC pipe most of the time, because foam rollers are too soft for me. Then I tried this power roller, and gotta say, I’m thoroughly impressed.
It oscillates at various settings – 5 in total – ranging from a rhythmic whirr to a teeth chattering mega-hertz level of oscillation. Depending on where I’m working, I like both. Like the Power Massager this thing got into the nooks and crannies of my upper back and calves like no conventional roller.
What’s even better, is this thing is rechargeable – although I don’t like the addition of ANOTHER charger I can potentially use, it’s better than looking for batteries. That being said, you will sparingly have to look for batteries, as this has a 80-120 minute use time, and you’re only going to need it for 15 minutes at a max. In 2-3, this thing gets deep. Then to charge it back up, only takes about an hour. What I would recommend is having a “mobility bag” to put this and the power massager in.
It’s got great texture on the roller itself, with a whole mess of divots, ridges, and recesses to let you grind around and find the series of ripples that breaks up the fascia in your body. After putting my calves on here for 5 minutes, they were jello – in a good way. They got much looser than 30 minutes in downward dog would get me.
Overall, it’s a great little product. Check them out.
Pros, what we like: Small enough to stow, varying levels of intensity, and the vibrations REALLY do help break up knots.
Cons, what we don’t like: The fact that you have another charger to keep track of is bothersome, but other than that we like it. It’s a pretty good value for the money.
