We just got a new piece of gear (2016) to test out – the Gerber Dime. This small multi-tool was instantly put into my go bag and also used as an extra tool on long mountain bike rides.
For the price (under $17) the Gerber Dime Multi-Tool really packs a punch. It is very light, fits in your hand and can cut through anything small quickly.

The overall length is 4.25″. The Closed Length is 2.75″ and the Weight is 2.2 oz. (super light).
This is one of the smallest multi-tools out there. I have even used it for bike tire repair when I was out in the woods and got a flat. I used the needle nose pliers to pull out the nail.
I lost my original Gerber Dime so I went out and purchased a new one for $29 at my local Ace Hardware. You can also check prices on Amazon and grab one for under $25.
PROS: Very low cost vs what all you can do with it. Having pliers in the tool makes this a big choice over any other small pocket knife.
CONS: This is obviously not your go to survival knife for building shelter and skinning animals. It is a small blade and tools that is used for small task.
