SEALFIT kokoro 43SGPT: Tell us about yourself?

Anderson: My name is Jake Anderson, I’m 18 years old and I live on a ranch in Cullman, Alabama.

SGPT: Did you have an athletic background growing up?

Anderson: I grew up wrestling, playing football and baseball and earned a pole-vaulting scholarship to compete at the collegiate level.

SGPT: How did you train for the Kokoro event?

Anderson: I trained for SEALFIT Kokoro with a lot of calisthenics, running, swimming and biking.

SGPT: Tell us a little about the event? Where was it?

Anderson: The event was held in Temecula California at Lake Vail. It consisted of 50 plus hours of intense nonstop training.

SGPT: What was hardest part of the event?

Anderson: The hardest part of Kokoro was the final 20 mile ruck we completed during the middle of the night. It was 12 miles up a mountain and 8 miles down .

SGPT: What is one thing you wish you would have done to get ready for Kokoro?

Anderson: One thing I wish I trained more was definitely rucking. Being efficient with a load is essential to excelling and more so, not getting hurt.

SGPT: Any tips for up and coming athletes that want to do Kokoro?

Anderson: If you are looking to go to Kokoro, make sure you prepare properly, show up full of energy and attack everything they throw at you.

SGPT: What kind of boots did you use for the event?

Anderson: I wore the Nike SFB Boots

SGPT: Did you use double socks/compression socks or body glide on your feet to prevent blister

Anderson: I covered my toes in vaseline and wore thin compression socks under a thicker pair.

SGPT: What kind of ruck did you use for training and the event?

Anderson: For training I used a black three-day pack with a chest and waist belt. For Kokoro they provided smaller black packs with thin straps and no support belts.

SGPT: What book are you reading now?

Anderson: I am reading the book The Art Of War
