Gear Review: Lowa Innox Evo Lo TF shoe

I was looking for my next lightweight trail shoe for hiking, running and cruising around town on my bike. It would need to dry quickly and breathe in humid conditions or if I get my feet wet.

I think I found what I was looking for in the Lowa Innox Evo Lo TF shoe.

This shoe is Lowa’s next step in lightweight trail shoe design and is athletically inspired style is a great warm weather trail shoe for moving fast and light. An open mesh, seamless upper construction is set on a proprietary DynaPU® PU midsole for lightweight cushioning, durability and comfort.

Some people like bright and shiny shoes. For those in the tactical world you want something grey, olive drab or black – often times to fit with your uniform of the day.
So the tactical side of Lowa’s business has taken the same things you love in the trail running shoes and darkened the colors out for you.  A win for many of us that like that sort of thing. Below you can see the color differences.

I am a big fan of Lowa and have field tested several other pairs of boots. Check out the list below to read the review articles.

LOWA also makes the Innox Lo in Gore-Tex (GTX) versions – these images show both polyester and Gore-Tex models.

The upper material is made of microfiber and synthetic with the inner lining made of polyester. The shoe is slip lasted with an injected PU midsole with shock absorbing zones. The eyelets are solid hardware and built to withstand daily wear and tear.

The sole is LOWA Enduro Evo but it claims that is not resoleable (for those that like to do that with their trail shoes to increase longevity) and the weight of the shoes is a little under 1.5 pounds. You can find a climbing shoe repairperson/cobbler to install a Vibram tread if you do wear out the original. The shoes are made in Slovakia and available at Amazon.com, Lowa boots, and Moosejaw.

Last week I wore these shoes to the gym to see how well they do with some powerlifting and running. The shoe holds up good for medium weight squats and dead lifts and a quick run out the door for a 200 meter run.

I have also used these several times out in the woods for a light hike (no load on my back). Next week I will be out on the trail for a 5k or more and see how they do in that situation.

I like to wear the Vermont Darn Tough socks when I am wearing this shoe. I like those socks in general as they are rugged, no nonsense and are guaranteed for life.

We will be posting updates at the 3 month – 6 month and one year to shoe how the show is holding up to wear and tear and abuse.
