SGPT: Tell us a little about yourself and your background coming into the 20X Challenge?
RB: I have been a chiropractor for 15 years and started CrossFit 5 years ago. I have been into sports all my life early in my career I got away from doing any activity. I started playing basketball again, then running, did a few triathlons. I then switched to mountain biking. Nothing really stuck with me until a friend told me about CrossFit.
Nobody in my area was doing it but I watched every video they had on their website and studied it before starting with CrossFit Alliance when their program started. I found a way to be competitive and saw gains in every aspect of my life. After about 4 years of CrossFit, we started pushing the boundaries even farther with some workouts posted on SealFit. We have been doing those workouts for over a year leading up to the 20X Challenge.

SGPT: When did you go through 20X and tell us about your experience.
RB: I went through the 20X Challenge on August 24th 2013. I have been pushed physically before but the resources Coach Brad provided helped me learn, adapt and overcome the obstacles that was placed in front of me and my team. When you get pushed to the point of wanting to quit, what are you going to do? I didn’t know what I would do until I got to that point. It was very rewarding to push through and even to continue lifting up my teammates as well.
SGPT: What was the hardest part of 20X for you?
RB: The hardest part for me was when my quads started cramping to continue pushing forward.
SGPT: How did you prepare for 20X and how long?
RB: Along with my regular CrossFit workouts I started doing more runs and hikes with the ruck in my boots and pants. As well I also started doing SealFit workouts 1 time per week.
SGPT: What is one tip you would give a candidate for 20X to take heed?
RB: Pay attention to the Coaches all the time. Give everything you have.
SGPT: How does it feel to be done and what have you learned?
RB: It feels rewarding to know how much I went through and was still standing. If I only had one thing I learned (which I learned many more things), it would be I am capable of doing much more than I thought I could do.
SGPT: Thanks for the interview, Dr Rob.
RB: I want to say thank you to Coach McLeod, Coach Smith, Mark Divine and all the SEALFIT crew that put the 20X Challenge together.
