When it comes to indoor cycling and cardiovascular workouts, two names that often emerge as top contenders are the Assault Air Bike and the Schwinn AirDyne Bike. These air bikes have gained popularity in the fitness community for their unique features and ability to provide intense, full-body workouts. Let’s take a closer look at the Assault Air Bike and the Schwinn AirDyne Bike to understand their differences and strengths.

The Assault Air Bike, renowned for its durability and versatility, stands out for its robust design and suitability for high-intensity interval training (HIIT). This bike utilizes air resistance, where the intensity of the workout is determined by the user’s effort. The Assault Air Bike features a fan wheel that provides unlimited resistance – the harder you pedal, the greater the resistance. Its sturdy build and heavy-duty frame make it ideal for users seeking a challenging workout, enabling them to engage both upper and lower body muscles simultaneously. Additionally, the bike comes with programmable interval workouts, allowing users to track their progress and customize their training sessions.

On the other hand, the Schwinn AirDyne Bike boasts a legacy in the fitness industry and is celebrated for its reliability and smooth performance. Similar to the Assault Air Bike, the AirDyne Bike employs air resistance technology. However, what sets it apart is its progressive resistance system, where the resistance increases as you pedal faster. This feature allows for a more tailored workout experience, catering to users of different fitness levels. The Schwinn AirDyne Bike comes equipped with built-in workout programs, heart rate monitoring, and a comfortable, adjustable seat, enhancing the overall user experience during workouts.

When comparing these two air bikes, it’s important to consider specific preferences and fitness goals. The Assault Air Bike is favored by those seeking an intense, all-encompassing workout, suitable for high-performance athletes and fitness enthusiasts looking to push their limits. Conversely, the Schwinn AirDyne Bike offers a more customizable and user-friendly experience, catering to a wider range of fitness levels and preferences, making it an excellent choice for beginners and intermediate users.

Assault Airbike Review
Quality 5 out of 5 stars. We bought two for the box and LOVE them!
There will be more of these coming to our gym down the road. Your athletes will hate them and love them!

This exercise bike is amazing! I had meniscus knee surgery 1 year ago and it is still not right.

So it has been difficult to workout at the gym. On the Schwinn AD6 Airdyne Exercise Bike you use your arms as well as your legs which takes pressure off of my knee. My arms and chest are sore my first week but that will go away. My mom had the original Airdyne when I was a kid and so I was happy to find that they still make it.

Using air resistance, the Assault AirBike scales automatically to how hard you want to work. The harder you pedal, the greater the resistance. It’s simple physics with big benefits.

To give a little perspective to my review here is a short introduction to why I bought the Assault Air Bike. I am a bike fanatic and love riding my mountain bike, usually a few times a week.

The great thing about a mountain bike is that it exercises your upper body as well as lower body (unlike a road bike). I have a top end spinning bike but never liked it much. In the vacation cabin we visit every winter the owners have a very old Schwinn Airdyne Pro in the basement. I always thought it just looked like a low tech waste of time. This year I hopped on and WOW I was in love! It was a full body exercise like an eliptical machine, but I was riding a bike and it didn’t hurt my back the way ellipticals do for me.

Schwinn AirDyne Bike Review
The Airdyne Exercise Bike is a simple concept and uses the wind from the fan as resistance.

Wind resistance is exponential, so the harder you pedal, the higher the resistance becomes.

This naturally provides the right workout for both a novice exerciser and an elite athlete

Crossfit gym and MMA workout facilities are loving this bike.

It has been a staple of hardcore gyms for decades and will continue to be into the future.

We have one in our home gym and love it.

Deceptively simple torture.

The schwinn airdyne is a beast! Easy enough for the most novice user, but ready to take down the toughest of them all.

Great for interval/sprint work and gets the job done well.

The Schwinn Air Dyne has a Patented Air Resistance Technology

Our unique air resistance system is based on exponential resistance, which simply means that the harder you work, the greater the workout. The Airdyne flywheel and compact Evolution fanwheel on Schwinn’s wind-based products provide smooth resistance while cooling the user during the workout. Schwinn’s wind products are ideal for both fitness and rehabilitative use.
