Overall, I like the boot. Fit as expected. It required zero break-in period. UNINSULATED. Which is what I wanted for summer wading.
I have only owned these for a couple months so I am unsure of the durability of the boots. However, I am concerned with the eyelets on the lower portion of the boot. I am sure that Danner used the nylon eyelets to keep cost down but this is a major concern of mine. How long will these eyelets go before they break? Time will tell.
Danner Men’s High Ground 8 Realtree Extra Hiking Boot,Brown/Green,10.5 D US
I inspect bridges for a living and spend all day in and out of water. Totaling around 250 days a year. We do lots of climbing, hiking, side hills, boulders, sloping concrete slabs, etc. These give adequate footing in MOST situations. If you are going after bighorn sheep, you will need to look for something with more stability. These are fairly lightweight, much like a well built tennis shoe only with an 8″ top.
Over the years, I have had limited trouble with Danner products in general. I have one pair of insulated boots that are around 8 years old and still going strong. I have had a couple of different models fail me in the waterproof department but these are holding water at bay, for now.
So, I would give these a 3 1/2 star mostly for the nylon eyelets on the lower portion of the boot. The remainder of the boot I would give a 4 1/2 star. Good boot but has some small issues.
