  1. Choose the right boots for the job.
  2. Break your boots in early and often. Dont wait till your mission to break a new pair of boots out of the box.
  3. Wear double socks (see the video below). A thin pair of socks that fit close to your foot with a thicker pair of socks on top will help reduce wear and tear on your feet.

  1. If you work in and out of the water, pick a pair of boots with drain holes or that have a fabric that drain well.
  2. Try on your boots before buying them.
  3. Buy your a half size larger as your feet will swell with long distance hikes.

  1. Wear gaiters (a raincoat for your boots) if you work in heavy vegetation and grass. Sticks and seeds will drop down into your boots and cause problems. The gaiter keeps them out.

<li>Take an extra pair of shoe laces as they will break at the worst time.</li>
<li>If your boots get wet try to get them dried out quick. Wet boots are heavier and will slow you down. Wet boots will make your skin turn white and easier for blisters to set in.</li>
<li>Take care of your gear and your gear will take care of you. If your feet are blistered your ability to operate is slowed down or stopped.</li>
