Jason Seaman, a 29-year-old science teacher at Noblesville West Middle School in Indiana, was identified as the person who helped stop a shooting that occurred there on May 25, 2018.
Seaman was teaching a class when a male student asked to be excused, then returned with two handguns.
While trying to diffuse the situation and disarm the young man, Seaman was shot in the hip, abdomen and forearm.
Although a female student was also shot, students who witnessed the incident say that Seaman’s actions prevented the shooter from injuring more people.
Seaman was taken to a hospital in critical condition, but is recovering.
The young man has been detained, though his identity has not been released due to his status as a minor.
